DEVELOPMENT OF SOCIAL CENTERS PROGRAMME

Within the project `Development of social centers in south east of Serbia`, implemented by the Society for the development of children and young people, in NKC hall one day workshop with the theme `DEVELOPMENT OF SOCIAL CENTER PROGRAMME` was organized. The general aim of this project of the Open Club, supported by Palilula Municipality, is the contribution to the development of Developmental-education centers as nets of separate social centers (in seven regional municipalities - Pirot, Prokuplje, Lebane, Bojnik, Surdulica, Vladičin Han, Palilula, that all respond to the needs of local communities over the reaching of community members and giving support, directing its work to innovative developmental and educational services.

The aim of this workshop, that took place in Palilula, is creating of new work programme of the center -Dusana Popovica bb street, by which we wish to make this center more modern and adapt it to new needs that are in our local community present and open it for various target groups, taking into account the resources that are at hand, but also experiences and data that we got during situation analyses in the municipality and also in the City, including also the opinion of the children and the young- so far users of the Center.

The aim is that in this social center we could include the other Non- Roma children, taking into account the principle of inclusion-emphasized Boban Dzunic, president of Palilula Municipality.

During this process, according to Tamara Simonovic, project manager, key factors -sides were included, but also professionals, representatives of institutions and organizations of civil societies we cooperate with, all for solving the actual problems of social most jeopardized part of population in its territory, specially of the youngest population. UNICEF supported the work with the children in Roma settlement - Crvena Zvezda, Palilula territory in the period 2002-2004. With the support of Swiss agency for development and cooperation for these activities one montage type of object, in the possession of the City of Nis, was provided. OPEN club since 2010 provided donors support of the Kingdoms of Netherlands and Belgium for the implementation of three projects in this object (For the inclusion of Roma children from Crvena Zvezda 1-2, Support to developmental-educational centers of the Serbian south). With the support of the Municipality, the City of Nis for this project provided for the Open club free using of this object in Dusana Popovica bb street until the end of 2013.
